Tattoos

I've wanted a tattoo for many, many years.
 As in over 20 years.
Yeah, I know.  Indecisive much?

(via Pinterest, quote by Neil Gaiman)

Luckily, when I was younger I was not only broke, but smart enough to know that this is not a step to take lightly.  It wasn't something I thought about all the time, but I would entertain the thought a couple of times a year.

There are many prejudices and preconceived notions about tatts.  I see them as art I get to wear all the time.  I have narrowed down what I want to a few ideas (not posted here, I just love the quote and the Mucha art).  I am beginning to research artists in Michigan and the surrounding states.  I've been saving up my money, and my goal is to have one by the end of next summer.

I would love to hear your thoughts on tattoos, and the people that wear them.

I hadn't always wanted one but got my first when I was 50. Not a mid-life crisis, I wanted to get matching tattoos with my daughter so that is what we did. I'm in the process of setting an appointment for my second.

So I guess I'm a person that attaches great meaning to my tattoos.

I know there are a lot of opinions out there and a lot of people that pass judgement on people with tattoos but I guess I say "screw em". They don't matter.

I think you need to give it a lot of consideration but it sounds like you have that covered. They say you should put your desired tattoo image on your bathroom mirror for a year so you see it every day to make sure you really want it. Not saying I ever did that but I do think a lot about it before I do it.

So I have a good artist I can recommend... ;)

I've always wanted to get one (or many) as well. Like you I am indecisive, mostly about what I would get. It would have to be extremely significant to be something so permanent. Maybe one of these days. Also, there's just something about sleeves that I find sexy.

I have two tattoos and my husband has seven. For us each tattoo has a meaning either due to the content or to the time in our lives.

I got my first tattoo at the age of 30 and I had a very specific idea about it and it is very special to me. It is a crescent moon surrounding a Celtic cross that signifies my faith, my family, and my sorority. My second one I got last year and it is a compass rose with my husband's initials at the top. Because when we started dating I gave him a key chain that said...where ever you go you are my true north.

I think tattoos are very personal and I think you should take your time making a decision about it. And there will be people who judge you for it but that is their problem.
